Vaya Records pressing out of Venezuela — merengue at the source. While Fania was documenting salsa from New York, Vaya was capturing the Dominican tradition closer to where it lived. This 1980 compilation pressed in Venezuela brings together the dance floor energy of merengue at its peak: fast, percussive, impossible to resist. A companion piece to the Vol. II US pressing — same label, same era, different hemisphere.
