Tom Waits — “Swordfishtrombones”

$45.00

Swordfishtrombones is the record where Tom Waits blew up his own sound and started over. This 1983 LP was his first self-produced album and his first for Island after Asylum passed on it — turns out that rejection freed him up completely. Marimba, junkyard percussion, and Kathleen Brennan’s influence turned the boozy piano balladeer into something closer to a mad composer, and “16 Shells From A Thirty-Ought-Six” and “Frank’s Wild Years” still don’t sound like anything else from 1983.

Genre: Rock / Jazz / Jazz-Rock

Year: 1983

Label: Island Records — 90095-1

Country: US

Condition: Media: VG+  /  Sleeve: VG+
