The Rimshots — “Down to Earth”
The house rhythm section that backed everyone finally gets their own name on the cover.
The Rimshots were the anonymous engine room of All Platinum and Stang Records through the early 70s — the unnamed rhythm section that laid the tracks for Etta James, Hank Ballard, The Moments, Brook Benton, and Chuck Jackson. They also cut the original Soul Train theme with King Curtis before anybody knew their name. Down to Earth (1976) is their only proper LP as a named act — and it lands exactly where you’d expect from musicians who’d been locking in the groove professionally for years. Funk, soul, and disco-adjacent, recorded and mastered at All Platinum Studios in Englewood, New Jersey.
Genre: Funk / Soul
Year: 1976
Label: Stang Records — ST1028
Country: US
Condition: Media: VG / Sleeve: VG
Notes: PRC-Richmond pressing.
