Masaru Sato / Momoe Yamaguchi — “春琴抄 (Shunkinsho)”
The soundtrack to Shunkinsho, a film about two people who were already falling in love in real life, and a film adaptation of Jun’ichirō Tanizaki’s novella, directed by Katsumi Nishikawa and starring Momoe Yamaguchi alongside Tomokazu Miura (who she later married in real life, retiring from entertainment at 21 at the absolute peak of her fame). Score by Masaru Sato. Momoe Yamaguchi is one of the most legendarily beloved figures in Japanese pop history — she walked away and never came back, which only deepened the mythology.
