Celia Cruz & Willie Colón — "The Winners"
This was the last of three albums Celia Cruz and Willie Colón made together — the closing chapter of one of salsa's great pairings. Willie doesn't play an instrument on this one, but as producer he recruited five trombonists to build the sound around Celia's voice, and "Son Matamoros" opens as a tribute to Miguel Matamoros, one of the most covered Cuban songwriters of the 20th century. La Reina, at full command, one last time with Colón behind the board.
Genre: Latin / Salsa
Year: 1987
Label: Caliente — HOT 113
Country: UK
Condition: Media: VG+ / Sleeve: VG+
Notes: Bordering near mint on both media and sleeve — a genuinely clean copy.
